My name is Nwmisa (Misa) Mrwebi and I come from South Africa. The reason I came to Tenerife is because I am a singer and I work around Spain and the Canary Islands, so that’s how I came to be here at STCF.

The first time I saw the church I was standing in the bus station waiting for the bus to go home and it reminded me of a church that me and my sisters used to go to in Lanzarote. I was very happy to know that it was an English church, because I don’t really speak Spanish.

So one day I came to church, found it was very good and the people very friendly as well. I went home and my sisters asked me how it was, so I said "Oh it was nice but I was the only black person there, so I don’t know if I am going the next Sunday".

Then I saw another brother who attended church in Guaza and he invited me to go there, so I went the next Sunday, as I thought it would be OK because it was an African church.
I went another Sunday as well, but my heart was sending me to South Tenerife Christian Fellowship.

So I came back and that day the pastor was preaching about a woman who did a special thing for Jesus Christ before He was crucified on the cross. I was moved and I started to ask myself what have I done for the Lord other than always asking Him to do things for me. So that’s when I asked the Lord to use me, but I didn’t know how.

Then one day I was talking to the pastor and I told him that I am a singer and he said "maybe you can sing for us sometime".
I said "yes but I thought who me? Sing in front of a congregation, oh no that’s not me, I am too shy for that", but that day soon came as the pastor asked me to join him and the choir in a practice that following Saturday morning and he asked me to choose a song that I knew.
I choose Amazing Grace and when I was singing at the Sunday service I was shaking and couldn’t believe that it was me singing for the Lord in front of such a huge congregation. That was the most treasured moment of my life!

One day I came to church, I had a problem with my sisters and I asked him to pray with me. We prayed and he mentioned some of the words from the song and that really moved me. The words that I liked from the song were these,
“it was grace that brought my heart to fear and by grace me fears relieved, how precious did that grace appear that hour I first believed”.

Now I am very happy with me sisters I feel at peace. I come to Bible study and feel really blessed, so much so that I also wanted to come to prayer as well but I couldn’t because of work.
But, God made it possible that I get one Tuesday in every two weeks off and now I can come and pray with my family in Christ, so God is really AMAZING!

We might be far away from home but God is always with us.

Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts You”
