20/20 VISION

Church Expansion Appeal

As many of you will be aware the church have been praying much over the future of the Church here in Los Cristianos and particularly the need for more space to facilitate the ongoing work.

We have sought to encourage the prayers and support of the whole Church family, residents, visitors and the trustees alike, in relation to the Vision for the next twenty years, should the Lord tarry. The response has been wonderful, to date we have approaching £45,000 contributed towards the 20/20 Vision Appeal.

As part of the next phase of our twenty year vision for the development and expansion of STCF we have set a step target to raise £70,000.00, that will enable us to purchase an adjacent "locale". We praise the Lord, that we are nearly there and with your prayers and practical support we should achieve this aim in the very near future. Thank you so much to those who have already contributed to the furtherance of His word here in Tenerife.

The church has recognised two important factors as to where we go at this time in moving this Vision forward. One is long term, the other short term, which caters for our immediate needs.

The Long Term

The Long Term Vision has been seen as a need to expand the main church building to facilitate the growing attendance and ministries which the current premises are unable to support and cater for those who seek to serve the Lord here at STCF.

The photograph on the left shows the three "locals" that are currently occupied by the church and in the long term we would need to purchase the two remaining in the block. The other photograph depicts the Church Office and the need to acquire the remaining four properties.

The complete Vision will be to house the church auditorium in this whole block having a seating capacity for five hundred and fifty worshippers in much improved comfort as against the present limit of four hundred.

This then would be the new building situated right in the middle of the Apolo Centre above the main entrance from the bus station. When the locals are converted into one large building, we could then start from scratch to upgrade and reorganize the whole PA system, lighting, air conditioning and seating.

But this is for the long term.

The Short Term - and the immediate needs

We need now to address the short term and the immediate needs that involves PlayZone the Local Mum’s and Tots Group that meet on Tuesdays. It has been a problem almost since it’s inception in that even combining the two fellowship rooms there is still not sufficient room to cater for all who attend. We feel it is important to do something about this NOW, so that this worthwhile outreach can continue growing, safely and comfortably.

A pressing need is also for Fellowship Rooms that can easily be converted to enable the quick and efficient production and service of refreshments. The layout we have at present does not easily lend itself to providing even the smallest of suppers, as the conference buffet highlights.

Added to that is the need for storage space which presently is NIL as can be witnessed in the photographs below, which have not been contrived, they were taken showing exactly the storage situation as it is today and can be witnessed during your next visit

With those things in mind, we have discussed and prayed about purchasing the whole block of Locales where the Fellowship Rooms are presently situated. That would mean "long term" buying of a further 6 Locals. Up until three weeks ago there were only two on the market and not really suitable for our "immediate" needs. However, we believe in answered prayer, God has now made available two that are just right, next door to the office. We do see that by purchasing those two Locales now, they would meet the present need, giving us a block of six together and that would make the longer term needs a continuing and viable proposition.

Immediately they are acquired, the wall linking one with the far fellowship room could be demolished, leaving a double the size local, that could be put to immediate use for the PlayZone. The installation of our large television would mean that the winter overflow from the church, (over 100 last winter) could be catered for by our present video link, thereby beaming the service to those that cannot be accommodated in the church. The room could also be used on a Sunday Evening after the service for a comfortable time of fellowship, seated together at tables instead of the current practice of standing around hugging cup’s of tea! The other Local would be used temporarily for storage of the chairs etc., that are currently unceremoniously stacked in the church.

How can I help?

We need to raise around £25,000 urgently! This will cover, together with the cash we have in hand, the purchase of the "locale" and the conveyancing cost and taxes due.

We really do need your prayers and practical support, please consider supporting the appeal with a gift to the church.

For further information please contact the Church Treasurer,

Tom Singleton - you can do it now on telephone number ( + 34) 922 71 11 91
